⚠ NAC is BANNED in South Korea. The MFDS (Korean FDA) classifies N-Acetyl Cysteine as a pharmaceutical ingredient. iHerb won’t ship it, Coupang won’t sell it, and customs will seize it if you try. Buy glutathione (글루타치온) instead — it’s the downstream molecule NAC produces, so it’s equally effective. Available at any pharmacy or on Coupang. True collagen is an animal protein. All “vegan collagen” products are actually collagen boosters — they provide precursors (vitamin C, glycine, proline, lysine) and cofactors so your body can synthesize its own collagen. No clinical trials exist comparing vegan collagen boosters to animal collagen for surgical wound healing. To maximize vegan collagen support, combine: (1) Veganery sticks, (2) L-Glycine powder 3–5g/day, (3) L-Proline 500mg–1g/day, (4) L-Lysine 1–3g/day, (5) Vitamin C 500–1000mg/day. Validation: Tier 2 for anti-inflammatory, Tier 3 for anti-scarring. Zero human scar studies exist. Note: the commonly cited piperine "2000% bioavailability increase" was not confirmed in a 2025 pharmacokinetic crossover study (no significant increase in unconjugated plasma curcumin). Nano/liposomal formulations may bypass this issue.

NAC supplements are banned for import into South Korea. The MFDS (Korean FDA) classifies NAC as a pharmaceutical ingredient. iHerb will not ship it, and customs will seize it. Validation warnings:
TB-500: TB-500 is a 7-amino acid heptapeptide (Ac-LKKTETQ), NOT the 43-amino acid TB4 protein. Most cited evidence is for the full TB4 protein, not TB-500. Actual half-life is 0.5–2 hours (not 7–10 days, which is from bodybuilding forums). Cancer risk is understated: 4x tumor size and 4x metastatic nodules in mouse melanoma model. No human trials of TB-500 specifically exist.
BPC-157: 80%+ of literature comes from a single research group (Sikiric/Zagreb) with undisclosed conflicts. Zero published negative results (statistical improbability). Only 26 total human subjects ever studied. FDA Category 2. A clinical trial was cancelled without explanation.

Note: Given the low evidence quality for both BPC-157 and TB-500 (see validation warnings above), the "replacement" framing overstates what these peptides are proven to do. The alternatives listed above are reasonable on their own merits. Also note: oral copper supplements (1-2mg) do NOT create GHK-Cu complex in the body — conflation of oral copper with peptide biology is a logical error.

You’re back in Europe around Day 7–8. Here’s what genuinely needs to be sourced in Korea vs. what can be waiting at home.

All needed from Day 0–1. S. boulardii is critical because you’ll be on antibiotics — waiting until Europe means the antibiotic course finishes and the gut damage is done. Strongest evidence: Vitamin C (textbook collagen biochemistry) and S. boulardii (well-evidenced AAD prevention). Arginine/glutamine benefits are primarily for malnourished patients and infection prevention, not wound quality per se.

Anti-fibrotic phase starts Day 5 — don’t miss it

Vitamin D3 — standalone D3 is at any Korean pharmacy. The D3+K2 combo can wait for Europe.

Omega-3 / Fish Oil Day 5–7 Resume your existing supply at home. You likely already have this.
Betaine HCl REMOVE Do not order FDA banned from OTC in 1993. Contraindicated with NSAIDs/corticosteroids used post-surgery. Based on N=6 pilot study only. "Suboptimal stomach acid" rationale is unsupported and physiologically backwards for surgical stress. Do not buy.
MSM VERY LOW Week 2+ EFSA rejected the collagen formation claim. An in vitro study showed MSM delayed wound healing at higher concentrations. Antiplatelet properties may pose a bleeding concern post-surgery. Low priority.
Boron Week 2+ Trace mineral. Not available in Korean pharmacies. Part of the Week 2–6 phase.
Copper LOW Week 2+ Reframed: primarily useful to prevent zinc-induced copper depletion (if taking zinc long-term). No evidence oral copper enhances wound healing beyond sufficiency. Note: oral copper (1-2mg) does NOT create GHK-Cu complex in the body.
Ca D-Glucarate REMOVE Do not order Zero wound healing evidence. Modulates glucuronidation of morphine, benzodiazepines, and antibiotics used post-surgery — no interaction studies exist. Do not buy during surgical recovery.
Sulforaphane VALIDATED Any time Nrf2 activator with well-characterized mechanism. Best of the Tier 3 supplements. Nrf2 is relevant to wound healing; keloid fibroblast in vitro data exists. No surgical recovery RCTs yet, but mechanism is solid.
Iodine WARNING Any time If supplementing, 150mcg/day maximum only. The "antiseptic" rationale is a topical-to-oral category error. Doses of 500–1000mcg/day are near the thyroid toxicity threshold (Wolff-Chaikoff effect / thyrotoxicosis risk). No oral wound healing evidence exists.
L-Glycine, L-Proline, L-Lysine Day 0 ideally Vegan collagen amino acid precursors. If you can grab them on Coupang, great. If not, the Veganery sticks + Vitamin C cover the basics until you’re home.
