# C5 gap closure — search pass 2026-04-23

**Scope.** This pass tries to close the C5 items in `research/gaps.md` using web search, Wayback Machine, Czech/US business-registry lookups, and community forum search. Budget ~30 turns. Every claim has a URL. For community-rumored identities, only the rumor and its public source are cited — not asserted as fact.

**Headline.** Seven items moved from C5 to C1-C3, two items partially closed to C4, five items stayed C5 with documented reasons. The biggest win was closing **testing.trans.diy maintainer**, **Artemis Analytical contact + instruments**, **Krause Analytical leadership**, **MZ Biolabs founders**, and **Janoshik public leadership**. Weakest remaining gap: Fisher institutional pricing (hard-gated behind login); Trans Harm Reduction instrument status (no recent update). All Wayback Machine queries for `artemisanalytical.cc` and `testing.trans.diy` returned **zero snapshots** — these domains are unarchived, so the "Wayback on Artemis was probably easy" path turned out dry.

## Closed (now C1–C3)

### testing.trans.diy maintainer identity (gap #1)
- **What I found:** The parent site `trans.diy` lists its contact email as **`sam@trans.diy`** on both `/contact` and on `papers.trans.diy/contact`. A handle **`@endocrinemoder`** appears on `papers.trans.diy` as a contact reference. `testing.trans.diy/contact` routes to the same `sam@trans.diy` mailbox. The maintainer therefore identifies publicly only as "sam" operating across three subdomains: the main `trans.diy` harm-reduction database, the `testing.trans.diy` chromatography-results registry, and the `papers.trans.diy` research aggregator.
- **Source:** `https://trans.diy/contact`; `https://papers.trans.diy/contact`; `https://testing.trans.diy/contact`. All fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C2** — self-disclosed contact on the primary site, consistent across subdomains. First-name pseudonym only; legal identity still C5.
- **Recommended update to research:** update `research/01-existing-services/testing-trans-diy.md` and `research/gaps.md` gap #1 to replace "deliberately anonymous, no contact" with "single named contact `sam@trans.diy` (pseudonymous), cross-referenced across trans.diy, testing.trans.diy, papers.trans.diy; associated handle `@endocrinemoder` on papers.trans.diy contact page".

### Artemis Analytical contact, personnel scale, and methodology (gaps #2, #15)
- **What I found:**
  - Public email: **`testing@artemisanalytical.cc`**, plus a Signal handle on the `/donations` page (not fetched verbatim here but confirmed present).
  - Operation scale: "small volunteer lab," "inbox is monitored by two volunteers with a response time of several days," and "Only two individuals possess administrative access to the results portal."
  - Instruments: **HPLC-UV + GC-MS** (HPLC-UV for quantity, GC-MS for identity confirmation). Dual-volunteer cross-check on every run.
  - Turnaround: "1 week from receiving."
  - Cost: **$0 to submitter; ~$60 per-run materials** funded by donations.
  - Submission model: anonymous by sample code; accepting samples Q2 2026.
  - Testing profile as recorded on testing.trans.diy: US-based; 2 tests on record as of Apr 2026 (both Estradiol Enanthate, Open Gate Labs and Symphony Labs).
- **Source:** `https://artemisanalytical.cc/` (homepage), `https://artemisanalytical.cc/contact`, `https://artemisanalytical.cc/how`, `https://artemisanalytical.cc/faq`, `https://testing.trans.diy/labs/artemis-analytical`. Fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C1** (self-disclosed by the lab on its current live site).
- **Recommended update to research:** update `research/01-existing-services/other-community-labs.md` and `research/01-existing-services/other-community-testers.md` Artemis Analytical entry with the new methodology, contact, and scale data. Retire the "deliberately opaque" framing in gaps #2 and #15 — the lab is now self-disclosed down to instrument class, volunteer count (two admins), and per-run cost.

### Krause Analytical leadership + location (gap #5)
- **What I found:**
  - **Principal scientist/Laboratory Director: Mark Krause.** B.S. Chemistry, Texas Lutheran College (1978); graduate studies in chemistry, UT Austin (1978–1980); in analytical testing since 1976; >45 years experience. **No PhD listed.** Prior/concurrent role: Technical Director & Owner, Austin Analytical, LLC (a related/predecessor entity visible on LinkedIn and RocketReach).
  - Company: **Krause Analytical, LLC** — small, minority-owned contract research and testing lab.
  - **Physical address:** 8711 Burnet Road, Austin, TX 78757. **Mailing address:** 8127 Mesa Drive, Suite B-206, Austin, TX 78759.
  - **Instruments (disclosed):** GC (GC-MS, GC-FID, GC-TCD), LC (HPLC, LC-MS/MS), ion chromatography, spectroscopy (FT-IR, UV-Vis, MS, OES), fluorescence spectroscopy.
  - **Stated registrations:** City of Austin, USEPA, FDA FEI, ISO 17025 (per site; specific numbers "Contact for number").
  - Finnrick volume: 3,836 tests (Apr 24 2025 – Mar 20 2026), the largest contributor to Finnrick.
- **Source:** `https://www.krauselabs.com/about`; `https://www.krauselabs.com/krause-bio`; `https://www.krauselabs.com/`; `https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-krause-80618542/`; `https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-krause-73080a2b/`; `https://contractlaboratory.com/welcoming-krause-analytical-to-the-contract-laboratory-network/`; `https://rocketreach.co/mark-krause-email_68934361`; `https://www.finnrick.com/labs`. Fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C2** — cross-referenced across Krause's own site, LinkedIn, RocketReach aggregator, Contract Laboratory Network feature, and Finnrick's partner page. ISO-17025 accreditation claim is C3 (self-stated; no registration number published).
- **Recommended update to research:** expand `research/01-existing-services/partner-labs.md` (Krause section) from "one-liner, Finnrick partner" to a full profile with the bio, addresses, instruments, and registration claims above.

### MZ Biolabs founders + principal staff (gap #18)
- **What I found:**
  - **Founder/Owner: Ken Pendarvis** — chemical engineer, analytical chemistry / proteomics / instrument-repair background. Listed as Founder and Owner on Crunchbase; on MZ's About page as Owner/Analytical Chemist.
  - **Co-founder: Nina Ossanna** — prior U.S. Patent Examiner, director of tech transfer at Johns Hopkins Medical School and University of Arizona. Co-founder attribution appears in search snippets (Crunchbase + search-result meta); not confirmed on the live `/about` page (which was fetched successfully via `/mzbiolabs/about-us/` — the original `/about` 404).
  - **Current team (from `/mzbiolabs/about-us/`):** Ken Pendarvis (Owner/Analytical Chemist), **Jaishree Mali, PhD** (Analytical Chemist; Pharmaceutical Chemistry, LC-MS/MS expertise), **Jamie Young** (Microbiologist; B.S. Microbiology + M.P.H. One Health, U. Arizona), **Armida Valencia** (Facility Manager).
  - **Address:** 2102 N Country Club Rd, Suite C, Tucson, AZ 85716.
  - **Focus:** LC-MS/MS for pharmaceutical compounds, biomarkers, metabolites; Certificate-of-Analysis (COA) work; peptide and small-molecule analysis.
  - **Founded:** 2019 (per Crunchbase/search snippet; not directly confirmed on the About page).
- **Source:** `https://www.mzbiolabs.com/mzbiolabs/about-us/`; `https://www.crunchbase.com/person/ken-pendarvis-7a4e` (403 on direct fetch — snippet from Google); `https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/mz-biolabs`; `https://grokipedia.com/page/MZ_Biolabs`; Arizona Corporation Commission entry `https://arizonabusinesscenter.azcc.gov/BusinessSearch/BusinessInfo?entityNumber=23028906` (page returned only a cancelation confirmation — entity-detail view did not render from WebFetch).
- **Confidence:** **C2** for Ken Pendarvis as owner and for the current staff list (self-disclosed on mzbiolabs.com). **C3** for Nina Ossanna as co-founder (search-result snippet only; not on the live About page).
- **Recommended update to research:** rewrite gap #18 as closed-to-C2. Update `research/01-existing-services/partner-labs.md` MZ Biolabs section with founder, staff, address, instrument class.

### Janoshik leadership team (gap #6)
- **What I found:**
  - **Owner & CEO: "Peter Magic"** — pseudonym. Publicly described in the Peptide Protocol Wiki review as "a former amateur weightlifter from Slovakia." The real legal name is **not disclosed in any primary source located in this pass.** The community rumor in the project gap list ("Jan Orčík") was **not corroborated** — it does not appear on the official about page, in the Czech business registry aggregator Northdata entry, in the Peptide Protocol Wiki review, or in any search result.
  - **CSO (Chief Scientific Officer): Edita Prokešová.**
  - **Managing Director & CFO: Jakub Dobrík.**
  - **Corporate entity:** Janoshik s.r.o., **IČO 17668727**, **Kaprova 42/14, Staré Město, 11000 Praha, Czech Republic**. Formally incorporated **25 October 2022** per Peptide Protocol Wiki (testing service operated informally for ~10 years prior).
  - **Staff:** ~30 per Peptide Protocol Wiki; 10–19 per Northdata aggregator.
  - **Business activities** registered: technical testing and analysis; R&D in natural sciences and engineering; plus several retail/real-estate codes.
- **Source:** `https://janoshik.com/about-us/`; `https://www.peptideprotocolwiki.com/blog/janoshik-analytical-review`; `https://www.northdata.com/Janoshik%20s·r·o·,%20Praha/ICO%2017668727`. Fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C2** for the named leadership team (self-disclosed on janoshik.com). **C3** for staff count and 2012–2013 operational-start date (Peptide Protocol Wiki only). **C5 for real-name attribution of "Peter Magic"** — explicitly: the "Jan Orčík" rumor in gap #6 was searched and did not corroborate. Do not assert as fact.
- **Recommended update to research:** update gap #6 to reflect (a) Peter Magic (pseudonym), Edita Prokešová, Jakub Dobrík as the public leadership, (b) incorporation date 2022-10-25, IČO 17668727, (c) the "Jan Orčík" rumor as unsubstantiated in this research pass.

### Finnrick total-test denominator (gap #21)
- **What I found:**
  - Homepage as of 2026-04-23 states: **"6,813 samples from 204 vendors across 15 popular peptides."**
  - Per-partner breakdown from `/labs` page:
    - Krause Analytical: 3,836 (Apr 24 2025 – Mar 20 2026)
    - BTLabs: 1,446 (Jul 22 2025 – Apr 13 2026)
    - Chromate: 660 (Dec 17 2024 – Jan 30 2026)
    - TrustPointe: 315 (Feb 13 2025 – May 8 2025)
    - Freedom Diagnostics: 213 (Apr 25 2025 – Sep 13 2025)
    - Janoshik: 194 (Apr 14 2025 – Sep 9 2025)
    - MZ Biolabs: 178 (Jan 23 2025 – Sep 29 2025)
  - **Sum of partners: 6,842.** The homepage says 6,813. Discrepancy **29 tests (~0.4%)** — well within update-skew between the home-page counter and the per-partner rows. Probably reflects retractions, revisions, or a cached number.
  - Individual vendor-page counts (for context on the denominator's volatility): Nexaph 213 (to 25 Mar 2026), Peptide-S 128 (to 10 Mar 2026), Peptide Sciences 125 (to 2 Apr 2026), SRY Labs 117 (to 25 Mar 2026).
- **Source:** `https://www.finnrick.com/`; `https://www.finnrick.com/labs`. Fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C1** for both numbers as of 2026-04-23 (verbatim from live pages).
- **Recommended update to research:** in `research/01-existing-services/finnrick.md` and `research/deep-dive/` Finnrick profile, document that the homepage denominator (6,813) and partner-sum (6,842) disagree by ~0.4%, consistent with a live-counter vs per-partner-page update skew. Both numbers are valid as "the figure Finnrick's site is displaying." Per-partner percentages should be calculated against the partner sum, not the homepage total, for internal consistency.

### Peptide Gurus current Finnrick grade (gap #19)
- **What I found:** Peptide Gurus overall grade **B** (as of 2026-04-23 per vendor page), but product-level grades are sharply bimodal:
  - Semaglutide: **B** (Good)
  - BPC-157: **D** (Poor)
  - CJC-1295: **E** (Bad)
  - Ipamorelin: **E** (Bad)
  - Melanotan II: **E** (Bad)
  - PT-141: **E** (Bad)
  - Retatrutide: **E** (Bad)
  - Tirzepatide: **E** (Bad)
  - **45 samples, 8 products, average test score 3.6/10.** Most recent test dated **3 July 2025**.
- **Source:** `https://www.finnrick.com/vendors/peptide-gurus`. Fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C1** as of 2026-04-23 (date-stamped live page). Grades will drift.
- **Recommended update to research:** if any detail doc quoted Peptide Gurus at F (Fraud), update to "aggregate B; one passing product (Semaglutide); seven failing (D/E). No F's as of 2026-04-23." Cite the vendor page URL and access date so the claim time-stamps cleanly.

## Partially closed (C4)

### Trans Harm Reduction crowdfunder outcome (gap #4)
- **What I found:**
  - GoFundMe page (`gofundme.com/f/lab-testing-equipment-for-trans-harm-reduction`) shows **€6,750 of €6,800** raised from **97 donors**; status is **"Donations paused."** No dated post-funding update on instrument purchase is visible.
  - Campaign originally created **2022-05-04**. The intended purchase is described as "a spectrometer" / "a piece of equipment that will allow us to see exactly what chemicals are present in a given sample."
  - `transharmreduction.org` (home + `/hrt-testing` + `/what-we-do`) does not contain a "we now own instrument X" announcement or blog post.
  - THR's latest published test on testing.trans.diy is dated **2023-08-31** (Estradiol Enanthate, Astrovials, 96.9% purity) — 2 tests of record on that registry.
- **Source:** `https://www.gofundme.com/f/lab-testing-equipment-for-trans-harm-reduction`; `https://transharmreduction.org/`; `https://testing.trans.diy/labs/trans-harm-reduction`. Fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C4** — campaign closed near goal, but no published confirmation of instrument acquisition or operational status. The long gap since the last testing.trans.diy-recorded result (2023-08-31) and the "Donations paused" state could indicate either (a) equipment purchased but not yet operational, (b) pivot to continued contract-lab outsourcing, or (c) project slowdown. None of these can be resolved from public sources in this pass.
- **Recommended update to research:** update gap #4 and #9 with the 99% funded / donations-paused status plus the 20-month gap since their last published test. Flag as "awaiting public update" rather than "unknown outcome." Adding an Instagram/Mastodon post search (not done here; blocked by session) would likely close further.

### Older / forgotten DIY HRT testing efforts (gap #10)
- **What I found:**
  - **Mad Gender Science!** (wiki) — `madgenderscience.miraheze.org/wiki/Blood_tests_and_staying_safe` — predates testing.trans.diy as a community reference for blood-test guidance but is not itself a testing lab; it documents the practice rather than runs it.
  - **HRT Cafe / hrt.fm / DIYHRT.Market** — vendor directories, not testing labs themselves; they aggregate test results from the labs covered in round 1.
  - **Transfeminine Science (transfemscience.org)** — pharmacology/endocrinology resource, not a testing lab.
  - **Transvitae.com** — editorial/advocacy site, not a testing lab.
  - The **Stanford Digital Repository DIY-HRT ethnography** (`purl.stanford.edu/ht993wf4020`) covers the community 2020–2024 but per search snippet does not name specific pre-existing testing labs by name.
  - **The "Reliable Caretakers" and "OpenLab" names specifically searched for did not surface any matches in web search.** "Open Gate Labs" is a vendor/supplier name (estradiol, HRT), not a testing lab — do not conflate.
- **Source:** `https://madgenderscience.miraheze.org/wiki/Blood_tests_and_staying_safe`; `https://transfemscience.org/`; `https://diyhrt.market/`; `https://hrt.fm/`; `https://purl.stanford.edu/ht993wf4020`; and null search results for "Reliable Caretakers" and "OpenLab" on Google and DuckDuckGo-equivalent. Fetched 2026-04-23.
- **Confidence:** **C4** — the negative finding (no labs predating testing.trans.diy / Trans Harm Reduction by the names in the gap list) is reasonably robust given the broad searches run, but it cannot be taken as evidence that nothing ever existed. Community-lab precursors may have been Matrix/Discord-only and left no indexable trace.
- **Recommended update to research:** update gap #10 and #11 to say "no named predecessor labs confirmed; the referenced 'Reliable Caretakers' and 'OpenLab' did not surface in this search pass; the community relied on commercial labs (Janoshik, Alpha Pharma, Simec) and on self-blood-test guides like Mad Gender Science before testing.trans.diy and THR consolidated the current registry."

## Still C5 (couldn't find)

- **testing.trans.diy maintainer's legal identity beyond the first name "sam".** Reached C2 on pseudonymous identity (see above). Legal name would need direct outreach. Not closable from public sources.
- **Artemis Analytical principal names and physical address.** The site discloses a two-volunteer scale and an email + Signal handle, but not names or a mailing address. Since only two volunteers have admin access and the operation is explicitly volunteer, the opacity is deliberate and C5 is the appropriate status.
- **Janoshik "Peter Magic" legal identity.** The "Jan Orčík" community rumor in gap #6 did **not corroborate** in this pass. Czech business-registry aggregator Northdata shows the corporate entity (IČO 17668727) but did not expose officers to non-subscribers. The primary sources (janoshik.com/about-us, Peptide Protocol Wiki) explicitly use the pseudonym.
- **Wako PYROSTAR ES-F current Fisher price (gap #20).** Fisher product pages for SKUs 12-333-000 (80-test) and p-7217319 (200-test) now require sign-in to display institutional pricing — both URLs were fetched and both returned "Sign In or Register to check your price." The legacy round-1 numbers ($182.18 / $309.50) did appear in a Google search result snippet for SKU 12-333-000, but only as a historical number — not live on the product page. Cannot be re-verified without an institutional Fisher account. Gap #20 remains C3-with-staleness; no improvement possible via public browsing.
- **Trans Harm Reduction's specific commercial contract lab (gap #3).** Not disclosed on transharmreduction.org, not in any publicly visible social post located. Operational-security choice by THR. Unchanged from round 1.
- **HPLC method conditions used by community labs (gap #5, original #5 re: methods).** Artemis now discloses HPLC-UV + GC-MS **classes** but not column, mobile phase, or wavelength. Krause Analytical discloses **instrument families** (LC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, etc.) but not their Finnrick method parameters (the methodology PDF is image-only and was not OCR'd in this pass). No change from round 1 for specific method parameters.
- **Finnrick endotoxin price (gap #6 in original list).** Not addressed in this pass (login-gated on finnrick.com as noted in round 1).
- **USP Estradiol Valerate monograph verbatim text (gaps #8 and #17).** Still paywalled (USP-NF subscription). Not addressed in this pass.
- **Home-lab sterility/aseptic noise floor (gap #13); fake-COA prevalence (gap #14); PPD Labs per-matrix gel-clot validation (gap #16); JP rFC chapter status (gap #11); DEA 2026 Form 225 fee (gap #12).** Out of scope for this particular pass.

---

## New findings (not on the original gap list)

- **Artemis Analytical discloses GC-MS as well as HPLC-UV.** Round-1 research (per `gaps.md` #2) characterized Artemis as methodology-opaque. The live site now names **both techniques** and describes their respective roles (HPLC-UV for quantity, GC-MS for identity confirmation). This shifts Artemis from "black-box chromatography lab" to "qualified dual-technique volunteer lab" for documentation purposes. It also means they overlap with Krause Analytical's technique stack (LC + GC-MS) despite being a much smaller operation.
- **Artemis' per-run materials cost is self-disclosed as ~$60.** This is a new cost-benefit anchor point not in the round-1 detail docs. It sits between the ~$120–180 Janoshik oils/endotoxin prices and the "$0 to submitter" THR model, and is a useful number for the `10-cost-benefit/` section when discussing volunteer-lab economics.
- **Krause Analytical claims ISO 17025.** If verified, this would make Krause the most formally accredited of Finnrick's partner labs — a non-trivial methodology-trust differential that is worth surfacing in the Finnrick transparency discussion. Self-stated as of 2026-04-23; number not published; independent accreditation-registry verification not done in this pass.
- **Janoshik published leadership (Peter Magic / Edita Prokešová / Jakub Dobrík) contradicts the round-1 "entirely pseudonymous" framing.** The about page names the CSO (Prokešová) and Managing Director/CFO (Dobrík) in what appear to be real-name format, while keeping the founder under the "Peter Magic" pseudonym. The site presentation is therefore "pseudonymous founder, real-named executives" — a more nuanced opsec posture than round 1 reflected.
- **Mark Krause has a parallel LLC — Austin Analytical.** LinkedIn and RocketReach show Mark Krause as Technical Director/Owner at both Krause Analytical and Austin Analytical (`wwidgets.wixsite.com/austinanalytical/about`). These may be the same operation under two names, or a predecessor/successor pair. Worth noting for anyone doing trust-attribution on Finnrick's largest contributor.
- **Nina Ossanna (MZ Biolabs co-founder) has a substantive science-policy background.** Per search snippets she worked as a US Patent Examiner and ran tech-transfer offices at Johns Hopkins Medical School and University of Arizona. This is unusually senior credentialing for a small contract-testing lab and is a reputational-anchor point worth surfacing in MZ's profile.
- **Peptide Gurus grade structure is bimodal, not uniformly F.** All seven non-Semaglutide products grade D or E; Semaglutide grades B. If any round-1 doc simplified this to "F (Fraud)" the correction is: the vendor **passes** on one product and **fails on seven**, with aggregate B. The libel-risk framing in gap #19 applies — a blanket "F (Fraud)" claim is inaccurate as of 2026-04-23 and should be corrected.
- **No Wayback snapshots exist for `artemisanalytical.cc` or `testing.trans.diy`.** `archive.org/wayback/available?url=...` returned `archived_snapshots: {}` for both domains. The "Wayback for Artemis pre-website history" path explicitly does not exist. This is itself a finding: Artemis is a fresh-domain operation with no pre-history to excavate, which is consistent with their "accepting samples Q2 2026" self-description.
